The Department of Anesthesiology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center handles applications for its residency positions through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Select applicants are invited for interviews conducted on Saturday mornings in December and January and also to an informal gathering including residents and faculty the evening before the interview.

On the Saturday morning of interviews, after a light breakfast applicants are given a tour of the hospital facilities prior to an interview conducted by a faculty member and current resident in the program. All interviewees are also invited to consider returning at a later date if desired for a “second look” visit for a more informal and hands-on opportunity to familiarize themselves with our program. After a series of meetings of the faculty and residents, the department finalizes and submits its rank list by mid-February.
