Pediatric Anesthesia
The Pediatric Anesthesiology Service at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center provides anesthesia for children of all ages with a variety of medical conditions for elective and emergent surgery. Our patients range from fragile premature infants to robust teenagers. Pediatric surgical procedures include the following types of pediatric surgery ˆ general, thoracic. plastic, head and neck, eye, orthopedic, genitourinary, and neurosurgery. Anesthesiology residents obtain their pediatric experience both at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles where they do a two month rotation. Topics of interest in pediatric anesthesiology are covered during the Childrens Hospital rotation and during a month dedicated to pediatric anesthesiology at Harbor-UCLA, Harbor-UCLA Anesthesiology faculty with special interest in pediatric anesthesiology are primarily assigned to the pediatric patient under two years of age and are available for emergency cases during nights and week-ends.
